Outside of a jungle of rain-washed pines and junipers spearing the hot blueness with the Florida sky, ran a small, tawny-haired boy. His bare feet, extending from his overalled legs, crackled in opposition to the fallen palmettos. He leaped into your air, flinging his arms towards a flock of white doves circling earlier mentioned him.
120 10140 W 44th AveWheat Ridge, CO 80033 (303) 424-3325 My girl had an emergency at 1:00 in the morning on a Saturday morning. I called to let them know I was on my way and took her in right away. I was seen quickly. The care was caring, thorough and professional. The communication was good. The staff saved my girl and I am very grateful they were there for her in the middle of the night! I appreciate the over the top care This is where the experts in all dog health fields are located.
As far as price comparison - use Safeway or somewhere for prescriptions - but for veterinary specialist care-- this is the place to go. I've been here for 3 different dogs w 3 different health issues. Once for a Greyhound w lepto before the vaccine was standard, once for my mutt (part Beagle) who is prone to herniated discs (docs were neurologists) and gave a successful treatment, once for the ER when another Greyhound needed a lot of stitches - Greyhound thin skin.
.. ow. Every experience with the staff is A+. And you know how we are with our dogs... I'm not lying. I like that the doctors give different options as far as finances are concerned. But not once did they make me feel bad when I said I couldn't afford something. I afforded what I could and with all 3 dogs it was the best choice. Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital is the right place to take your dog and receive the best care -- from doctors to ancillary staff.
Side note to folks w dogs w possible herniated discs - skip going to your usual vet -- no offense to them, but they are not specialists in neurology. Wasted a week of my dog's time and pain that way... go here. If you ever find yourself needing emergency or hospital level vet care, please be cautious before coming here. Unfortunately they are all about money. Prices are inflated. Phone calls never get answered.
Vets are too busy to address issues. Poor animals. It was difficult to find a vet that takes "exotic animals " (rabbit) Very clean and friendly staff here, even have a couple cats who like to greet people. I have never met an entire group of people that are so caring and compassionate. Last week, we came in during emergency vet hours, only to learn that we would have to put our family dog down right away.
Dr. Nelson explained everything to me and handled everything with such grace, and sat with me while I made hard decisions. The rest of the staff was so helpful, apologetic for what I was going through, and so helpful to my whole family. They even offered to babysit our 2 year old while we put our dog to rest if we wanted them to. I can't say enough good things about the whole crew at Wheatridge Animal Hospital.
We are so thankful for them for making a horrible situation easier. Went to this facility tonight to get my dog checked out after a neutering and they were great. Called ahead and got right in. Staff were very nice and vet was great. Seem like a nice and thorough team in a very nice facility. Will use again if needed. Honestly this animal hospital has an amazing staff. They all were incredibly sweet.
The only thing that's stopping me from giving this hospital full stars was their price. THEY EXTREMELY OVER PRICE EVERYTHING. If you can afford to bank your bank then this is a good place to go but if not i highly highly highly recommend somewhere cheaper I want to update my review to 5 stars (or more)! The new location has relieved the overcrowding problem and it was easy to find a private corner in the waiting room for our new, extremely timid, cat.
And with the added exam rooms the pets are moved out of the waiting area much more quickly. Wheatridge has been extremely good to us over the years, helping our two older cats through end of life care including cancer and kidney disease. I still see my local vet for regular checkups but when the cats need specialist care I am happy to make the long trip to Wheatridge. I trust them completely. If I could negative stars I would.
Neighbor took an old dog to them obviously on her way out. The vets here are so incompetent they had to do testing, which but the way ended up costing several thousand dollars all the time giving false hope to my neighbor, "she seems to be doing better". She was in an incubator totally unresponsive! Finally decided to euthanize her. They don't care about anything but your money. Red rocks vet, or planned pethood would be much better options.
We have come here twice for emergency visits. When it comes to an emergency we have always found the staff to be responsive and totally accurate with their diagnosis. We brought our cat here for a routine visit and we were not as impressed with either the diagnosis (inconclusive). As many have mentioned, it is expensive. You can save a lot more dollars by making routine vet visits elsewhere. With today's emergency visit, we knew what the issue was.
Our Collie gets urinary tract infections. We came in with a urine sample and knowing what medication she would need to get based on previous experiences. The vet was very nice and worked with us although she did seem to be annoyed? disappointed? that we already knew what was wrong with our dog. We felt like we stole her thunder a bit on getting to the root of the issue. With that being said, when it comes to emergency vet care, I would trust Wheatridge and their staff.
While we were on vacation, our little pup got attacked by a big dog and our friend brought him to this hospital. When we returned, we had to bring our little guy back in because we weren't sure if the wound was healing or not. The staff was SO friendly and helpful. Dr. Porta was informative while being gentle and sweet. He took amazing care of our Pepe. His calmness helped us ease up from the anxiety of not knowing if Pepe was ok or not.
It was a wonderful experience, despite the circumstance. When ever we will need care for our pup, we'll be coming here. Thank you Wheat Ridge staff and care providers! You are all wonderful! We brought our yo puppy into the hospital after when she hurt her leg on a walk. The facility seems very new. It is clean and modern. Everyone was fantastic - from the front desk staff, to the nurses and ultimately, Dr.
Nelson. They were all very compassionate when working with her, and they also did a great job of communicating with me throughout the process. Highly recommend. I started taking my cat here since I wasn't getting straight answers from another vet. I made an appt with Dr Finke and she hit the nail on the head for her diagnosis almost immediately... kidney disease. I followed her instructions to the letter.
..VERY KEY (most ppl don't). I literally owe the last years of my cat's life to her! And the staff was always SO sweet every time I would come in for her special food. They'd always have a vested interest in how my kitty was and knew me (us) by name. But my cat did get old, and on her last day, Dr. Finke sat on the floor with me as we prepared for my cat's last breaths. Until the very end, she was honest, patient, and by far the most compassionate human being I've ever met.
Nothing could make that day "easier" by any means, but her utmost compassion for me and my cat that day was something I'll never forget. Two days later, I showed up to the clinic having adopted a 7 wk old puppy. Everyone in that office laughed...and cried with me. They were like family...we all went through the circle life and death together. That's not easy to find! People who have complained about this place in it for the money.
..If you honestly think that, don't ever get a pet if you're always looking for a discount. Sure they weren't the cheapest around, but their care, experience and 100% devotion to animal health makes them worth every penny. (Of course, you need to listen to them because they truly do know best!) After 3+ yrs managing a sick pet, I never once felt like I was taken for a ride. I owe many, MANY happy years to Dr.
Finke and the staff here, and quite frankly, that is PRICELESS! And if I didn't live in CA now, I'd see them in a minute. Dr. Israel and staff at Wheatridge were knowledgeable, friendly and courteous. From check in to the pharmacy staff and techs they were all so friendly. It didn't take us a long time to be seen, everything executed smoothly and well. The prices were reasonable. Dr. Israel had very good recommendations, details and insights for taking care of our dog's wound.
We will be back for more care. As a RN its always funny to see animal care and visits go more thorough and detailed then humans at times but its makes us happy when we definitely think of our pet as family getting the best care. I didn't even know there was such a thing as a veterinary ophthalmologist until our little 3 lb chihuahua developed an eye infection that turned into something much more serious.
Another vet referred us when she realized it was so serious that the eye might need to be removed. The facility is immaculate, the check-in process is thoughtful and welcoming, and all the staff seem to truly care about the pets and their people. Dr. Gearhart and her assistant were exceptionally kind and took the time to go the extra mile late on a Friday to explain everything and get the right treatment for our little maniac.
I would highly recommend Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital! While I was out of town, my dog got hurt and my landlord took her in to the emergency side. She cut her leg pretty bad, they did a great job stitching her up and its healing well with lots of love and care. Here is where my problem is, I was told to bring her back in to have a recheck and so I called to schedule and I was told that i needed to schedule it with same dr.
, so I did. Dr checked her out and said it's doing better than expected and wrote a prescription for more pain meds. When I went to check out, they said I had to pay a $100 ER fee...! What?!?! I wasn't there on a ER visit and wasn't about to pay that. She went and talked to the dr and said I'd only be charged a $49 fee plus medication... I paid it, ugh... as if $700 for stitches wasn't enough in the first place.
Shouldn't a 5 minute recheck be part of that $700 stitch bill... My 2nd time using Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital and once again extremely satisfied. My cat was in kidney failure and needed to be monitored 24/7. Every single person I've worked with from front desk, technicians, doctors and finance has been professional, knowledgeable and very caring of my cat & me. Living in Evergreen they aren't the closest for primary veterinarian care but for emergency purposes I would not choose anyone else.
Thank you everyone for the care and respect you have shown my little guy in his time of need. Tank was our second pet we've had to euthanize. We wouldn't think of going anywhere else. The professionalism and care by the staff at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital rivals any 5 start hotel or restaurant. You and your pet will be cared for all the way to that last sad goodbye. Their new facility is state of the art.
The room has comfy chairs, blankets and pillows to keep you and your pet as comfortable as possible at such a traumatic time in your life. Your pet deserves this care you deserve the peace of mind. Thank you to the staff your compassion eased our pain. I only gave this one star for a few reasons. I live in Boulder and I have a different regular vet. They are AMAZING! The problem was that my dog showed symptoms of a tumor or meningitis of the brain so the vet called and got us an appointment with wheat ridge.
When we got there the receptionist said there was no appointment... uhhh ok. They did however fit us in after waiting for an hour. We saw the doctor. She said she was checking my dogs eyes... by literally digging two thumbs into them. He isn't the kinda dog to complain but he cried out a bit (yeah I would too if someone was gouging my eyes out) Then she told us she wasn't sure and to determine the cause of his behavior lately we would need to do an MRI.
The MRI was quoted at 3,000 dollars. What in the ever living hell? Ok... can we make a payment plan? NOPE! Payment is due right after and that too wouldn't be a guarantee on finding out what was wrong with our boy! So we went home to think about it. I was distraught. I called and told them to schedule it for the next day. Called back to ask a question to the doc and all she said was I couldn't tell u unless u do the MRI.
quite blatantly obvious that all they wanted was our money. Long story short we ended up taking our dog back to his normal vet who asked us to hold off on the MRI. turns out he's most likely got meningitis and is being treated accurately by them without sending me into foreclosure or something equally as horrifying. Overall don't come here. They only want money and all u want is to save your sweet little babies.
STAY AWAY! I am so fortunate to have found this place ! I recently moved to Denver and wanted to establish a good GP vet for my senior dog as well as an internist. Experiences at other places weren't bad but just not what I was looking for. So far, the folks I have interacted with here are compassionate, friendly, patient, and thorough. My dog and I are both grateful that they are around !
