Bones. She is professional with a keen sense of follow up. Although we had to make the decision of euthanizing Shabba, Dr. Bones was providing as many options until the very end. She made my family and I feel as if Shabba was her own pet. If someone were to ask me, why take your pet to this veterinary, I would tell them, "because of Veterinarians like Dr. Jessica Bones." Dr. Bones, if you're reading this- I cannot thank you enough.

With a doctor that no longer wants to run his vet practice or be responsible for his quality of care, unfortunately $@it runs down hill. The staff act like children. When my family was not given the proper care and her animal was injured the owner refused to speak with her.
Leaving his unqualified office manager of 2 months to dismiss her. When we spoke with them about how inappropriate this was. They thought they would just ignore us and leave us on the phone. This is a vet that has been open for almost 40 years. Their response to a complaint about an office visit has turned into a certified letter asking us not to be patients any longer. Nevermind that you have seen 6 of my animals over a 30 year period.
And I am in there monthly getting meds with no prior issue with you and I in the past at all. Perhaps instead of spending $6.95 on a certified letter you should have heard your patients out. Loyalty doesn't mean anything to this place. No problem Dr. B. I wouldn't take my animals there any longer after how I've seen you handle this situation and not be responsible for your employees. A law suit waiting to happen.
By the way the animal my sister brought in is injured after being seen by your vet on that Sunday. ... I love Santa Clarita Animal Hospital but lately the service is declining. Let me be clear we have brought our dogs there for 30 years. I have watched them save my dogs life and have always trusted them. I am not sure why the customer care has declined. For example when my sister was unhappy and wanted to speak with the owner and he cancelled on her.
They close early and ignore customer complaints. This is the place I would recommend to anyone! But I am not sure why they would treat loyal customers this way but it is very discouraging. Please make things better again. I rely on you. I want to feel confident that I am taking my furry family member to the right place. Thank you. I sincerely hope that Dr. B takes the time to respond. After finding a fish hook in my Boxer girls' foot pad, my son and I desperately tried to unhook her... but we couldn't. We searched Yelp and found Santa Clarita Pet Hospital off Rail Road in Newhall. The staff were awesome... they saw that all of us, including my boxer boy, were distressed and panicked for our girl. They were quite soothing and helped us by taking the hook out of her bad.... my girl was soooo happy when she came out after!!! I am so grateful to the young women who help us.
I cried all the way home ... truly you guys warmed my heart so much. Thank you! Your new customers, Muneca, Buster, and Mom ;). They were extremely nice and helpful. Dr Tran called me when she said she would and was very professional and kind. The rest of the team was very helpful and welcoming as well. 5 stars from this guy. This clinic is absolutely wonderful. I brought my little buddy who had been feeling a little.
..under the weather. I was greeted by Paige and Jocelyn who were both very friendly, knowledgeable (regarding Genji and his symptoms), and most of all caring. I definitely appreciated the great sense of humor from the staff and how they went the extra mile to get pictures of my boy (with my permission) to show me just how...out of it he was. Kudos to the team and I look forward to bringing Genji in the future.
.. for check ups... hahahaha I had a great experience today taking my furry animal to the vet. Friendly staff. Now I have peace of mind knowing my dog has a yeast infections in hes ears and not ear mites. We couldn't have asked for a more caring staff with Dr. Chang and everyone else here at Santa Clarita Animal Hospital. Our dog was diagnosed with cancer and they walked us through the process.
Yesterday, our beloved dog passed away on our way to them, and when we arrived, they got us immediately to a room so he could be diagnosed. When it was confirmed he was gone, they were compassionate and helpful, allowing us to sit with him as long as we needed. Thank you to the staff for being there with us, and for giving our boy the care he needed to be comfortable in his last months. For us, the best thing about SCAH is their techs and office staff.
We have been customers for over 30 years between our 2 very long lived dogs and the techs have always been the most caring, kind, gentle and capable people. However, our experience with the veterinarians has been spotty. There are so many, it can get confusing and we have received different advice for the same issue from various vets. Some advice worked better than others. .While they were caring and kind with our pets, I believe they fell short of the mark when we brought our 17+ year old dog in because she had stopped eating.
Blood work showed that her kidney and liver values were extremely elevated (about 5x normal) and her thyroid level was very low. Her pancreas levels were also twice the norm. Additionally, she had lost 17 pounds over 10 months and she was having trouble walking and getting up. The advice we got was to have them hydrate her, give medicine for nausea in case that was why she wasn't eating. They also suggested we try a different prescription food than the one we had been giving her.
The tests, office visit, subcutaneous fluids, meds and 1 can of dog food (yes, they actually charged us for that!) came to almost $450. When she seemed worse the next day, they suggested that I learn how to give her fluids and that they could add a couple of other prescriptions that might help. I took her in that day and spent another $180 which included 3 bags of fluid to take home. The following day, yesterday, she didn't seem better and I began to question the value of the recommended treatment.
I called the office and asked the vet about the likelihood of a 17 year old dog recovering her organ function. I was told that they couldn't make an accurate prognosis without a $230 ultrasound of her kidneys and liver. She said it could take up to a month for the organs to recover (which would require bloodwork every week or so) and asked if I could "afford the time." At that point it felt like they were trying to get as much money from us as they possibly could before my dog died.
I realized that it was time to think about euthanasia- even if Miko's condition improved, she still wouldn't be able to walk. I read about at home euthanasia, SCAH gave me the number of Peaceful Pets and last night Miko passed peacefully at home with us. I feel the hospital did us a huge disservice in their advice. While I understand that they couldn't tell us what to do, I feel that they should have been more realistic in their diagnosis.
Their advice made me feel guilty about doing what was obviously right for my wonderful pet instead of guiding me to the best decision for her. If we should ever get another pet, we will find a different vet. I used to love this place and I've sent many referrals here over the years. Unfortunately we wont be coming back. Our favorite vets are gone and the past two times we've come the cost has been very high.
.. its obvious they are trying to squeeze as much money out of each person as possible. Bedside manner is also very poor. My dog is a rescue and has cropped ears. The first thing the vet said was 'who chopped you up like this?'. This is all disappointing because it used to be so great. I just took my dog to this vet as I thought she had an eye infection. Dr. John C. Burkhartsmeyer was whom saw our pet.
He came in the exam room and immediately started performing tests (which I assumed were included in the exam price since there was no additional quote provided). He came to the conclusion that she had an ulcer and we would try eye drops and return in a few days to see if it had made any progress. When I went to the receptionist desk to pay, the price was almost FOUR TIMES the original quote. When I asked the receptionist if there was anything they could do for us considering the fact that they did not run these additional charges by us, she went to speak with her office manager Holly.
Holly was very sweet when she came out to speak with us but unfortunately the doctor followed. The doctor over took the conversation and pretty much told us that we were not welcome back if we did not like his practice. I have never experienced such unprofessional and embarrassing customer service in my life. Needless to say, I will never return to this sneaky, insanely rude, money hungry vet again.
Came in on a Sunday near the end of their day on an emergency. Decided to check yelp after my girl (a 65lb blue nose pit) was taken back for an iv. We all know it's hard to find a vet office open Sunday. The yelp reviews had me a bit concerned with my decision to come here. I asked to go back with my Ivy. They allowed me to sit on the floor outside her crate in the back. No issues at all, very understanding about my concern not knowing them.
Dr. Ryan, apparently he is new to the team, was direct but nice and answered all questions. Since I was sitting on the floor in the back I can say he had a great disposition toward his team as well. I was very pleased with him pleased with the way he treated my baby and the way I saw him with his team. That speaks volumes. The techs Stephanie and Andy were great. Personable and treated us well. They didn't mind me sitting in the floor either.
The front desk Stephanie and Jocelyn took care of a mishap on my bill, nicely. Very nice as a front desk should be. Spoke well on the phone as well. Needless to say I am a VERY particular person and work in healthcare. I will say I will come back to Dr. Ryan, maybe not the other doctors mentioned in the other yelp reviews but YES to Dr. Ryan Folse! Sweetest and most caring establishment, I have ever taken my pets.
I said good bye to one of my best friends here and they were very comforting. I will always remember how they were there for cookie and now patches. Dr. Chang is awesome. She's so easy to talk to & she actually cares. Chris is really cool, too. I love this Veterinarian and trust them to be honest about my pet needs. Save your time and alot of money and only come here, if you have a pet emergency really evaluate if your pet can wait until this clinic is open.
I wish I would have come here and have stayed far away from the 24hr emergency clinic down the street as I would have saved nearly $2,500 in the last couple of months and would have also saved alot of stress and anxiety as well. Please trust me when I say that this should be the only vet to take your pet to in Santa Clarita. We recently adopted a dog from the castaic animal shelter and received a voucher for a free vet visit within the first seven days of adoption.
The voucher had a list of about 5 animal hospitals to choose from. We decided to go with the Santa Clarita animal hospital. I had called and made an appointment for Sunday at 3:40. The woman over the phone was extremely nice and advised us to come about 10 minutes earlier so we can fill out new patient forms, so we did. We arrived at 3:30 and were warmly greeted by the ladies at the front desk. We filled out the paper work and gave it back to them.
About five minutes later they took us in. They weighed my dog and I believe they took his temp. They then left us in an exam room and told us the vet is running a little behind. Fast forward 45 minutes later and still nothing. We ended up walking out at exactly 4:41. I get that people and business can get backed up at times, but over an hour after our appointment? When we were walking out the front desk ladies were really apologetic, but it's not their fault.
It wouldn't have killed the vet to come into the exam room and update us on a time frame. Seeing as though they don't respect or value patients time, we will not be giving this place another chance. We've been taking our cat here for the past 5-years, incredible staff and Dr. Chang is the best. It's worth the drive from Palmdale. Dr. John C. Burkhartsmeyer is probably the worse coldest Doctor I have ever come across at a Vets office.
I have/had many animals. We wanted all our options given to us for our cat. He is very sick, The doctor said it may be his thyroid. The doctor walked out and the nurse walked in very nice and understanding and we asked to speak with the Doctor once more to give us a quality of life for our aging cat. The Doctor walked in "Ok What is it" both my husband and I were both taken back by his question. We will do whatever medical treatments our cat needs but it will never be with this cold and rude Doctor.
He was highly inconvenienced by our visit and by our questions. I would never recommended taking your pet who is part of your family to this insensitive Doctor!! Update: Office manager Holly refuses to speak with us. They accidentally picked up the phone while we were on hold and heard them they say no she's not here. This is not a way to run a business!! Never go here!! Obviously none of your staff or you communicate with each other, You hoped my cat was feeling better.
However after leaving your office with a good quality of health, My cat had to be put down the next morning. He couldn't move, Wasn't eating or drinking. I am not sure how you came up with your good quality of health! We have asked several times for your office manager to contact us for a refund on your "good quality of health" for our dying cat! He suffered because of you! We have informed all of your staff that our cat had to be put down.
Perhaps your staff and you should get off Yelp and return some calls! I really want to thank all of the staff that assisted us with the difficult process of putting our dog to rest. They were very compassionate and helped guide us from beginning to end. I recently had a horrific experience with Dr. John Burkhartsmeyer, the owner of the Santa Clarita Animal Hospital. I brought my dog in for some strange symptoms.
I am a nurse and have medical knowledge. This doctor was the least empathic and uncompassionate person I have encountered in long time! Not only did he recommend tests that were not necessary, his approach and bedside manor was rude and brash. I took my dog to ASG in Glendale and had such an amazing experience that it brought tears to my eyes! I will drive to Glendale for all future animal needs! O.
k. I usually take my dog to an excellent vet in Santa Paula, but since this place is closer I figured why not. I made my appointment, my dog has a little bump on his leg. Before I even stepped into the office, I told the receptionist I don't want to waste my time or yours. If the vet can't look at my dogs leg and tell me what it is TODAY, I will go to a vet that can. She gives me some half-ass response.
I know how vets work. Anyways, the older bigger guy comes in to get my dogs vitals. He reassures us that it looks like it's just a wart. Then leaves. Cool. Exactly what we wanted to hear. Then the vet comes in for the exam. She was very kind and sweet to our dog. She tells me it could be 1 of three things. The worst is a tumor. She said to let it ride for a few months, and if it doesn't go away to get tests done.
She leaves and the older bigger guy comes back in. He draws up a bill for $700.00 to get the biopsy done and the bump removed and starts talking about cancer and if we think that's expensive we should look at how much chemo therepy is. I'm just thinking to myself, "Where did CANCER even come from? WTF I thought you said it looked like a wart? The VET didn't even mention Cancer??" So I paid the $50 for the visit and left.
Looks like we will be sticking to our vet in Santa Paula!! I was appalled that he mentioned Cancer at all, Cancer is something very serious and for that word to even get thrown around so careless when i'm clearly worried about my dog just makes my stomach turn. All to scare me into wasting $700.00+ on tests that aren't even relevent to my dogs f$%^ing wart! The initial visit is just a ploy to squeeze out money for tests and what not later.
They will not give you a definitive answer up front. I feel if your a veterinarian and you cant recognize a wart on a dog than your failing as a vet. Your customers aren't as stupid as you think Santa Clarita Animal Hospital!! You money hungry People .
