Away from a jungle of rain-washed pines and junipers spearing the recent blueness of the Florida sky, ran a small, tawny-haired boy. His bare toes, extending from his overalled legs, crackled towards the fallen palmettos. He leaped into the air, flinging his arms towards a flock of white doves circling above him.

My name is Brooke Brooke is around 2 years old and came to the shelter because her owners could no longer care for her after she had her puppies.
Brooke has obviously had a tough life in the past, but we know nothing about it except she is frightened by men. She is shy, and needs a patient home. She is comfortable with us, but has a hard time trusting new people so a slow introduction with a dog-savvy person, more than once before adoption would be best for her. We think she’d be okay with dogs, but not cats. We don’t think a home with children would be appropriate for her.
She is very sweet, cuddly and she is totally worth the time! Brooke would prefer a home with women, but could warm up to a man with time and treats. Brooke’s adoption comes with a FREE 6 weeks training session and a forever wiggly dog butt. Hi! My name is Bud Bud is a 1 1/2- 2 y/o Pitty who originally came to us in the beginning of 2017, was adopted but then returned because they had to move and again because he was nervous around an energetic child.
Bud is an energetic, silly boy who needs a home without other animals. He loves hiking, playing in the yard, and swimming! If you are looking for a HUGE cuddler and couch potato (when he isn’t outside playing) Bud is the dog for you! He is a great boy who needs to find his perfect fit. Hi! My name is Echo When Echo came in, we were told she was around 10 years old. However, she does not look or act 10.
Echo is very uncomfortable in her kennel so please don’t let her behavior deter you. She is a very sweet and playful girl that loves to go for walks and scoot around the yard. Echo has been through a lot in her lifetime and really wants a home where she can be the only animal, with no kids and live a laid back drama free life. Over the past few months Echo has really opened up and shown us her full personality, and it is quite great.
She listens to commands very well if she knows you mean business. She loves to give kisses and sit on your lap. Echo needs some time in new situations to adjust and calm down. She craves attention so much she can tends to get a little carried away when she first meets people, but acclimates with some time and a good, sturdy toy. Echo has showed us that she is quite the love bug and just wants someone to love her the way she will love you.
Echo’s adoption comes with a FREE 6 weeks training session and lots of kisses. Hi! My name is Izzy--ADOPTION PENDING Izzy is an 8 y/o boxer mix that came to the shelter because she wasn’t doing well with the babies crawling in the house. she would do best in a home with older children because the older child in the house was her best friend. She likes car rides and knows some basic commands, but needs some work on her leash walking.
She also loves to play fetch and swim! We haven’t tester her yet with dogs or cats. Hi! My name is Luka Luka is a ~1 1/2 y/o lab mix that was surrendered to the shelter. Luka is high energy fellow who needs someone who will help him channel his energy, both physically and mentally. Luka is a smart boy who does know his basic commands. He does not do well with cats, but may get along with the right dog.
We recommend a home without children because of his energy level and mouthiness. An active, dog-experienced, adult only home would probably be best for Luka. In the past ~6 months Luka has had 3 homes due to his energy level and puppy tendencies, this has caused him to have some anxiety so he is REALLY looking for the perfect forever home so he can relax and know he will be loved and in a home forever.
Luka wants so much to please someone and have a cuddle buddy. Hi! My name is Miles Miles is a 3 y/o pit mix that came to us because his owner was going into the hospital. Miles is a sweet boy but can be nervous at first so a slow introduction works best. He also does not get along with cats. We have seen him be playful with other dogs, but only some other dogs. Miles has a lot of energy he would love to burn off playing outside and going for hikes (on leash) or maybe even runs! Children make Miles very uncomfortable and uneasy so a home with no child interaction would be ideal for this handsome boy.
Miles is a big cuddler and loves human attention. Miles adoption comes with a FREE 6 weeks training session and lots of exercise. Hi! My name is Oakley Oakley is a very sweet boy that was found on the side of the road. He can be a hard dog to crack, but once he gets used to you he gives you the, “Thank you, I love you” eyes. We don’t think Oakley has had much love so far in his life because he doesn’t know how to reciprocate it and is just learning how to play.
To our surprise, he walks wonderfully on leash. We have not officially tested him with dogs, but he just seems to ignore them unless they come at him. Cats are probably not going to be a good match for him right now. Oakley is a good dog that needs a home that will train him, understand his subtle affection and that will show him the love that he has never gotten. Hi! My name is Violet Violet is an ~5 y/o mix that came to us because she is looking for a quiet, calm home where she can snore all day and eat cookies.
She is not used to being on leash but is invisible fence trained. Violet walks okay on leash and is getting more confident every day, but is mostly scared of the sounds outside. She is good with cats but we would not suggest a home with young children. Violet is a very sweet girl that is looking for someone with lots of time and love to give in a quiet home possibly with another dog to show her she doesn’t have to be scared.
