From a jungle of rain-washed pines and junipers spearing the hot blueness of your Florida sky, ran a little, tawny-haired boy. His bare toes, extending from his overalled legs, crackled towards the fallen palmettos. He leaped into your air, flinging his arms towards a flock of white doves circling over him.
256 22221 S Vermont AveTorrance, CA 90502 (310) 781-1434 4/5 paws. (No it's not the premier experience but it got the job done. One evening the wait seemed crazy so we left. Next evening it was almost empty so we were seen in and out in 30 minutes. I had had a tick so went on antibiotics, had the site cleaned, and did some tests. No up selling us any bird poop. Thank you for that.) Great place.
The wait is long but worth it. Vets are kind, caring, and know their shit. Dr. Oshry and Dr. Yoon where so good. They don't bullshit and get to the point and are very knowledgeable. Our dog had surgery due to bladder and kidney problems and they and their staff took good care of our pet. We where here daily checking on our dog who had surgery here and the staff is friendly, caring and on top of shit.
Whenever I would call they would not leave me on hold forever and when I would visit the staff and doctors where very caring and helpful. We love this place and recommend it to everyone who cares deeply for their pets. Thank you everyone here at Affordable. Please use this clinic with caution the countless one star reviews are an indication of how unprofessional and inconsistent their service is.
Nothing is appoitment based. You will wait hours regardless of the time you arrive & once the vet sees you, don't expect a friendly face or compassion for your animal. This clinic will run you up a huge bill & say your 1st visit was free. People it's not worth the free exam. Other vets with outstanding history charge around $50 for a vet exam but you walk out only paying for what your pet really needs which in the long run will save you more money & time.
The Affordable Animal Clinic is the Walmart of Veterinary hospitals. Too much traffic, no quality or customer service. They service way to many people the vets are only happy to run your bill up & the techs are tired & understaffed. The front desk women job is to steadily handle traffic, questions about wait times, answer calls & call customers back. Non of these tasks are being handled.
I was told you will receive a phone call to update you on your cats needs while he is unconscious. No call. I was told you will receive a call when you cat is ready to be picked up. No call. I gave specific instructions on what I wanted done Day 1 why I was spending the $30 to board him over night & what I wanted done Day 2. The animals welfare is the #1 priority if not for this why are you being payed to service animals and hold the title veterinarian? I call near closing time because I never got a call, I was told everything was done today, your animal is awake from anesthesia.
#1 You did not listen to my instructions as the pets owner #2 was I going to be told this information if I hadn't called in my self. #3 this animal has a home with me why in the hell would I pay you $30 to board him over night if you did all the procedures in one day? I arrived 10 minutes before closing asked for my cat & a reimbursement of the $30 you would have taken from me. The front desk woman said there is no additional fee to keep him over night, yeah you are right because I already paid! & I was refunded my $30 dollars.
All types of things were suggested for my cat during 3 separate vet visits & I was told by one of the vets "is money an issue", no you preforming unnecessary procedures & treatments is the issue. Don't downgrade or ever disrespect a customer. When I asked questions his response was "I already answered that" Excuse me! As a animal lover who will always try to save an animals life, the vet told me to my face, he's not worth it, why are you trying.
No love, humility, compassion or remorse took place just cash from my three visits that this establishment happily took without providing the correct service. My cat is now dead a 2 year old animal that had a full life ahead of him but no longer does because your veterinarians keep saying let's try this let's try this. All you did was break down his immune system and intimately killed him. I was the one who woke up the following morning to my dead cat laying in his bed, not your vets, not your techs, not your front desk personal.
Never again will you service our animals and we will never recommend this chain of clinics. I will continue to warn animal owners. To file a formal complaint I have provided the link below: http://www.vmb.ca.gov/consumers/comp_inf.shtml One of my dogs needed a rabies vaccination. Found plenty of parking when I arrived. Building has separate entrance for vaccinations. Walked in and got service immediately.
Very happy with price and experience. I have always had my pets spayed and neutered here without incident but last week 7/13/2017 I took my 8lb puppy to be spayed. I am mortified. My babies incision is HUGE. That aside I truly believe too much anesthesia was given to her as well. I understand we are only on our 3rd day of recovery, but she is still extremely disoriented and lethargic. I will take her to another vet tomorrow and give another update in a few days.
Until then be very careful coming here because this is a total mess. Update: It's been a month and she has fully recovered. The scar from the incision healed in an odd way but all that matters is my dog is ok now. Great spot! I took my dog in for a cancerous fibrosarcoma tumor removal and what I thought would be a long procedure it was anything but. The DR was great with my elderly dog and treated her like a princess the entire time she was there.
When I picked her up from surgery you could tel they went above and beyond providing her with comfortable warm blankets and all the proper care. Can't thank them enough. Horrible service took my 12week puppy in for diarrhea and the doctor wanted to give him like three medications without testing first. I decided prior to druging him up I would get testing done first. I was called two days later that something came back negative and the doctor wanted to retest him.
I asked what came back negative and they said they couldn't tell me and I had to go back in for another appointment and testing. It's all a scam to get more money. Never going back! Highway robbery with my last visit here. A $10 splint was quoted $150. Why would my dog need one when I am taking her elsewhere the next morning for a tibia fracture surgery is beyond my comprehension. If this wasn't the worst news, hold on to your pants when I was told my puppy had stage 3 Patellar of both hind legs.
I got a second opinion the next day and no such findings!!! This is very upsetting to me. Why would the vet misdiagnose. Owners Beware - pick your vet wisely! Other than that horrible, untrusting experience. The only reason why I gave a two stars is because the receptionists and assistants were very kind and empathetic. Horrible service! I hurried over here on a Friday to get there before 5pm for the discount vaccines.
I got there at 4:15pm only to find that they were closed. Returned the next day and after a 2 hour wait I got nothing more than a nail trim. The doctor seemed to know what he was doing; however, when the assistant brought in the "care plan" with prices on it, my experience went down hill! None of what the doctor talked about was on it. He had recommended against the vaccines at this time, and suggested shaving the back of my puppies neck and prescribing an anti-fungal ointment for a sore.
The care plan that the lady brought listed fecal test, deworming, flea treatment, and nail trim.m (total $93). She first told me the flea treatment, I believe it was called "Vekra", was the anti fungal. She also said the deworming was the vaccines. The girl had no idea what anything listed was. When I finally got the paper corrected, they tried to charge me $35 to shave a 1inch by 1inch square on my puppies neck where he had the sore.
One girl stated that they don't charge for that. Yet, another argued that they do. As I walked away I heard another girl say "we dock it but we don't actually charge". By this point I was already done with this place and not going to argue any further. Out of 5 girls at the front, only 1 seemed to know what she was doing. Horrible service! I read some really good and really bad reviews before going here.
I decided to take a gamble and try this vet since it's only a block from my apartment. From what I can tell, you get what you pay for. This place is very cheap so you need more patients in order to turn a profit. You write your name on a list and it's first come first served. Expect to wait a few hours unlike other vets. But I will say, they don't compromise on care. My dog was treated for a skin condition and he was already feeling better the next day.
I know my vet bill would have been double if we went to another vet. Zero stars!! This place is horrible, unprofessional and borderline inhumane. Read all the negative comments on here and you will understand. If you love your pet, you will not take them here. Don't be fooled by the name, they are not that much cheaper!! My personal experience was truly upsetting. My poor dog, Bear, had slipped and tore his nail, and at the same time had been bit by a tick.
I had only been to this place once or twice before, when I was a new dog owner, so my experience and knowledge was limited. I got there around 930am, waited waited waited, and didn't see a vet until 11am. Ok, I use the term lightly when I say "see." I literally only spoke to the vet for one minute, he was bouncing from room to room (they have a hallway full of rooms, this is a way for them to make the most $$$, as I realize after the fact).
My dog was in pain, and he said he was "aggressive." So more money, because they have to give him anesthesia to cut his nail and shave around the tick bite. And they were supposed to check him for additional ticks as well. They demand payment upfront. I leave at 1130am. I call at 3pm, and they say they still haven't done anything to Bear. They claim he was dehydrated, duh, he hasn't had anything to eat or drink since the night before! My dog (who is a rescue dog btw) has been locked in a cage for over 3 and a half hours!!! Then they're telling me I can come pick him up and take him somewhere else.
Really? I just want him to be better. I ask when will he be ready and they say 5pm. Show up a little after 5pm and he is not ready. It isn't until 545pm when I finally see Bear and he is drugged up. On top of that, these jerks didn't shave around the tick bite! When they made sure to charge me for it. Not to mention they were pushing me out the door without the 2 medications that I repeatedly asked for, and paid for!! When I get home I find another tick on him.
Not surprised at this point, considering they already showed their incompetence. I called around other vets to see if all this was normal, and all said NO. I see what they do, they are trying to make as much money as possible, and then they lock your pets up in their "treatment area" so they can maximize profit. It really bothered me the vet, Dr. Lee, called my dog aggressive, when he is a sweet dog.
If you can't handle animals, you should not be a vet!!! After doing research and finding out these details, and reading all these negative reviews, which I should have read before, and let me say there are over 50 NEGATIVE REVIEWS, I go to the clinic to get Bear's medical records, because I want to know exactly what they did to him. It's now 3 days later and he is not the same. This girl at the front desk tells me that legally they need 24 hours to give me his records.
I did some additional research and that is a LIE!! Don't throw around the term LEGAL. This place is the absolute worst. I wish I had read the reviews before I had come here, but there are some tragic ones that broke my heart. Please take care of your pet and go somewhere better. Also if you had an experience similar or worse, please click/copy this link and file a complaint. It is for Veterinary Medical Board of California.
http://www.vmb.ca.gov/consumers/comp_inf.shtml http://www.vmb.ca.gov/consumers/comp_inf.shtml http://www.vmb.ca.gov/consumers/comp_inf.shtml This place doesn't deserve 1 star! The receptionist when i first got there at 12pm today had the worst attitude, i tried making conversation with her because it was my first time and she was very rude and made it seem like I was putting her out when i asked to fill my paper work out while I waited.
2 1/2 hours later I finally get called in the vet spends maybe 3 to 5 minutes tops in the room just tells me my kitten has fleas and walks out. Then another receptionist comes and goes over what the vet wants me to do and when i tell her i feel the prices are too high id rather look on amazon because I know i can find same purpose products just as effective for cheaper she walks out of the room doesn't tell me to have a nice day doesnt even talk directly to me she just walks out.
This clinic is an abomination to animal medicine never again!!!!!!!! We were just here last week because i got my dogs vaccinated . Last week was fine we were accommodated quickly. My dog has been coughing for 2 days so we went earlier to get it checked. I came in and I saw almost 15 dogs waiting to be seen. The front desk were nice when I checked in. They told us its about an hour wait, so we did, we waited for an hour.
We waited outside for an hour, I came in again to ask, the front desk ladies told us it's going to be another 45 min to an hour wait, depending on how fast the pet owners will decide if they're gonna proceed with a treatment. I felt like we were waisting time already. So we left. We'll just look for another clinic. I hope they'll improve they're services or hire more vets. This seems to be a nice place but the long line and long wait is a no no to worried pet owners.
I have been taking my two dogs here for the last six or so years, and although it is not the most luxurious spot they have always taken great care of them. I have one dog who has an extremely delicate system and instead of paying the quoted price of over $1,000 at my local vet, I trek over to Affordable Animal Clinic and walk out the door paying $400. They also have clipped my dogs nails free of charge at some visits (my dog HATES her nails clipped and if they can manage to get through that and not charge me? SOLD)!! Thank you guys for always taking care of my little nuggets Norma Jean and Chachi My dogs eye is much better, I called this place for a refund the following day and refused to return my money so I can take him to get checked out.
They did offer to pay for my dogs eye treatment until it go better whether it was at their clinic or another. Medicine and consultation were paid for. I appreciate this, but still upset that my dog had to be put through that trauma. This place is honestly the place to take your pet. In the past we have taken 2 out of our 4 dogs when they have gotten ill. The service is honestly the most kindest out of other veterinarians I have been to.
Every month I go to the "flea pill." It honestly works. And it's so worth the $17. For the prevention of any fleas. Especially since my dogs are outside majority of the day. The vets on duty are very knowledgeable. The only reason why I'm giving them a 4/5 is because of the wait time. Since the place is really affordable and convenient the wait time is loonnggg. One instance we waiting close to 2 hours to be seen.
I suppose this clinic is a hit or miss, based on my experiences and the reviews here. I've been bringing my pup to this clinic for years, but only for shots and to have him neutered. The staff was always nice and friendly, but the waits are ridiculously long, unless all your pet needs are shots. I'm not going to go into full detail about our bad experiences because that would take too long, but basically, we've started to get the impression that this place tries to rip you off sometimes.
My brother's girlfriend brought her dog here once, and the vet told her he needed surgery on a ligament. It was going to cost thousands. She got a second opinion and was told that surgery was not necessary and that the "ligament issue" was normal for his breed and age. He is perfectly fine today. Our dog was making heaving noises for 2 days, but when we brought him, the vet listened to his heart and told us he "had a heart murmur and that he may have heart problems which would require him to take medication for the rest of his life".
... I was shocked and in retrospect, I don't feel this was appropriate to say since it sounded more like an assumption. The X-rays and blood test revealed nothing wrong, and after doing more research, we realized he was fine and didn't actually need all that. It did give us some peace of mind. He was given medication and is good as new! We believe that the vet knew it wasn't serious but wanted to try to make money.
I forgot to mention that we were there from 10am to 2:30pm. Yes, the waits can be THAT long! This place is notorious for wanted to perform unnecessary operations apparently. A few months ago, my dad took our dog to get a flu vaccine for our dog. He waited 3 hours, only to be taken to a room and told that they didn't have the vaccine. They lightly apologized and left the room. I can't say I'd recommend this place.
Although people have posted some very positive reviews, I am honestly nervous about bringing my pet here now. Took both my dogs and for their shots was in and out in no time and the staff was very friendly and very helpful will be back I noticed that my dog was picking up bad habits, I then decided it was time for him to get neutered. After a night of doing research on Animal clinics, I finally made a decision on coming to this location, well because they are affordable, hence the name.
I visited with my furry friend on a Wednesday morning 5 mins before opening. When I showed up there was a line 4 pets deep which isn't a problem, because I was warned by a friend that this place accepts walk-ins only and that they get busy. The staff was prompt to open the doors at 9 am sharp and asked everyone waiting to sign in and wait patiently. While I waited I was asked to fill out a first-time visitor paperwork and within 30 minutes of my visit my dog was taken to the back for pre-op.
Before leaving I was instructed to call back around 550 pm for a status update. Fast forward to 630pm, I was cleared to come pick up my dog. When I showed up, the waiting room was packed with no place to sit. I awkwardly stood in the middle of the room for 10 minutes because there was no receptionist up front at the time of my arrival. After and additional 5 minutes I finally spoke to someone to let them know I was here for my pet and was told: "it's going to be a couple of minutes because we have a lot of discharges right now".
This didn't upset me at all, I understood the situation. I was here for about 45 minutes before a doctor came out with all my dog's medication. He clearly explained what they were for and instructions. He then went to the back to grab my dog and we were on our way. Overall I had a good experience here. The regular patients/owners were very friendly here. And they reassured me that wait times here can be quite long but the staff here do a great job given that they are busy every hour of the day.
It was a great first-time experience for me and my dog. Although you are greeted with an awful smell when you walk in the door and always a really long time waiting, it is a reasonably priced animal hospital. I usually spend around 2 hours here.
